POKEMON GO players might have a new fire and ice event update coming this June after news details leak from sources who correctly predicted the past Water event.
Pokemon GO players might want to prepare themselves as another BIG event could be set to arrive in just a matter of days.
TeamEevolution, a well-known source of Pokemon GO leaks who correctly predicted the recent Water Festival event has taken to Twitter this morning to announce that a new Fire and Ice event is coming to the game this June.
Obviously, as this isn’t official yet, we have to take it with a pinch of salt, but given how accurate TeamEevolution have been previously, we think it’s safe to say you can get a bit excited by the below information.
Based on the information provided this event should start June 13 1:00 P.M. PDT and June 20 1:00 P.M. PDT, 2017, which is intended to celebrate the beginning of summer in Northern Hemisphere and the start of winter in the Southern Hemisphere.
Primarily players will see increased spawns for Fire and Ice Pokemon (which you can see detailed in the gallery below) but as with most events in the game, there will be additional bonuses on top.
For instance, it’s reported that Trainers will receive more XP for all throw bonuses (‘Nice’, ‘Great’, and ‘Excellent’ Throws) in addition to extra XP for Curveballs and First Throw captures.
On top of this, there;s also more XP rewarded for hatching Eggs, with a 50% Lucky Egg discount also rumoured for the shop. Which makes sense, as this is how Niantic primarily make their money through the in-game shop.
Should this information be correct it means that fans will start to see an increase in the following Pokemon:
FIRE: Charmander, Charmeleon, Charizard, Vulpix, Ninetails, Growlithe, Arcanine, Ponyta, Rapidash, Magmar, Flareon, Cyndaquil, Quilava, Typhlosion, Slugma, Magcargo, Houndoor and Houndoom.
ICE: Seel, Dewgong, Shelder, Cloyster, Jynx, Lapras, Sneasel, Swinub and Piloswine.
TeamEevolution has also managed to get hold of a leaked public statement, which would normally be released on the Pokemon GO website just priot to the start of the event. It reads:
With summer quickly approaching in the Northern Hemisphere and winter approaching in the Southern Hemisphere, we couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate the upcoming solstices than with a Fire-type and Ice-type Pokémon GO event.
From 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 13 to 1:00 P.M. PDT on June 20, 2017, Trainers around the world will discover more Charmander, Cyndaquil, Growlithe, Houndour, Ponyta, Swinub, Vulpix, and their Evolutions. You’ll also want to keep an eye out for Sneasel, Magmar, Cloyster, and other Fire types and Ice types!
It’s time to perfect your Poké Ball throws, Trainers! Throughout the event, you’ll receive huge XP bonuses for successfully catching Pokémon with Nice, Great, and Excellent Throws, as well as Curveballs and First Throws. Additionally, as you walk around your neighborhoods or discover new sights, you’ll earn even more XP for hatching Eggs. To help you take advantage of these awesome XP bonuses, Lucky Eggs will be 50% off in the in-game shop.
Get ready to explore the world around you—there are even more exciting updates coming your way soon!

The news follows on from a surprise event going on right now, but it’s unlikely to be popular with the majority of iOS and Android players, as only those in the US can join in and reap its fantastic rewards.
Currently, US mobile telecoms carrier Sprint has opened up their Japan Sweepstakes event for all eligible US residents, although it should be noted that you don’t need to be on Sprint to actually participate.
So far, there’s been limited information around the event itself, but a leaked internal marketing memo has provided some clarity on what it entails, when it starts and the massive prizes on offer.
The memo comes via The Pokemon GO Hub who have validated the information but state they’re unable to disclose the name “or any additional info on the source.”
“The event lasts from June 1 to July 7, 2017, and allows players to use 10 Trainer Reward points to participate in a lottery. Winners will be randomly selected on 12 July 2017.” explains the Pokemon GO Hub.
