POKEMON GO news teased by Niantic this week has provided a big hint that a new update will be released in the coming months that will make it a legendary period for the game.
Pokemon Go continues to prove a popular mobile game among Android and Apple fans, although not on the same levels that it reached in its first few months in 2016.
During that time, the game became a craze that spread across the world, even though many of the hoped-for feature were not included.
The Niantic title also suffered from server outages, with the company unable to cope with the sheer number of Trainers trying to logon.
NEWS: POKEMON GO HAS A NEW MAGIKARP RIVAL
Things have changed a lot since those first frantic months, with Niantic now in a much stronger position when rolling out new Pokemon Go updates.
And it appears that a big one is being planned for this summer.
While we already knew that a new coop experience is set to be released, it’s still not entirely clear what that might be.
A major Gym revamp appears to be on the card, but just how the new gameplay mechanics will change the game, the development team have yet to share.
But while there have been reports of new events being launched in the coming months that would help release the original Legendary Pokemon in the game, fans got their biggest hint today.
During the 21st Annual Webby Awards, Pokemon Go’s Global Product Marketing Lead, Archit Bhargava, provided a very short hint on the subject.
While picking up the five gongs Niantic had been awarded, one for best mobile game, Bhargava told the crowd: “This summer is going to be legendary.”
The new hint gives very little away in terms of content, although it does seem to confirm that Legendary Pokemon are finally coming to Pokemon Go.
Until that time, Trainers can pass the time enjoying some of Niantic’s new Pokemon Go events.
The latest is celebrating rock-type Pocket Monsters, providing a range of new bonuses and a better chance of grabbing rarer types.
Running until 9pm on May 25, Niantic’s latest Pokemon Go event has already begun in the UK.
For the duration of the Rock-type event, Pokemon Go players will receive more items from Pokestops, as well as more Candy from Buddy Pokemon.
In fact, Buddy Pokemon will find Candy four times as fast, which is great for players hoping to evolve some Pocket Monsters.
The price of Poke Balls will be slashed by 50% from the in-game shop, and players will also be able to equip the brand new Explorer’s Hat from the wardrobe.
But the most exciting piece of news is that Rock-type Pokemon will appear with greater frequency, including Aerodactyl.
