LA airport opens luxury ‘celebrity terminal’ for rich and famous to avoid prying eyes and paparazzi

With a joining fee of nearly £6,000, access to the private airport terminal certainly doesn’t come cheap – but it’s just 70 steps to the seat on your plane

Los Angeles airport has opened a private ‘celebrity terminal’ allowing the world’s rich and famous to avoid prying eyes and paparazzi.

The terminal at LAX Airport offers a ‘platinum-class’ service, for anyone willing to pay the staggering access fees.

Officially named the ‘Private Suite’, a simple joining fee will set you back $7,500 a year – around £5,800.

But it costs another $2,700, around £2,100, for up to four people, each time you use the service, or $3,000, around £2,300 for international flights.

Offering maximum ease through the normally slightly chaotic negotiation of any airport – a ‘Private Suite’ experience promises a smooth and super quick journey from car to plane.

While the average number of footsteps taken for a regular passenger is around 2,000 from car seat to plane seat, the ‘Private Suite’ experience promises you’ll be sat in your seat waiting for takeoff within 70 steps.

An explanation of the service on its website reads: “Members of The Private Suite don’t wait in crowded lines because private security screening is done right in our building.

“Members don’t walk down long crowded concourses, or line up at ticket counters and boarding gates. They don’t deal with baggage.

“And they don’t deal with paparazzi.”

In fact, members a treated to luxury service from the moment they step into the terminal.

The Private Suite website states: “Members spend their pre-flight time in totally private suites, each with its own bathroom, its own food-service pantry, a two-person daybed, and a runway view of aircraft landing and taking off.

“When it’s time to board, Private Suite members are driven across the tarmac, Head-of-State style, directly to their aircraft.”

A team of eight people is assigned to each member using the Private Suite at any one time, with two on hand to deal with any special requests.

As one of the airports most popular with rich and famous across the world, the likes of the Kardashians and Beckham’s surely fit the bill as customers of the Private Suite.

With the promise of no paparazzi or adorning fans, scenes that played out just weeks ago between One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson and a photographer could be avoided by a more private airport experience.

The row between the star was captured of film as he also came to the defence of his girlfriend Eleanor Calder who was involved in an altercation with three other girls.
